Madrid monopolizes 85% of foreign investment in Spain


Madrid is at the forefront of foreign investment in Spain during the first three quarters of 2018, attracting 29,830 million euros. This amount represents 85% of the total money that has arrived in the country during the first nine months of last year. Behind Madrid are Catalonia with 5.3% of the total, the Basque Country, the Valencian region and Andalusia.

48% of foreign investment in the region between January and September 2018 came from Germany, 25% from Luxembourg, 13% from the Netherlands, 5.4% from Hong Kong, 2.5% from the Kingdom United and the remaining 1.5% of the United States.

The main sectors in which foreign investment has fallen are the storage and activities attached to transport (48%), the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air (9.8%), real estate activities (9.5%). ), civil engineering (7.2% and construction of buildings (6.1%).
